NYCT
Short Film / Stop Motion / 2019
Based on the theme of magical realism, NYCT is a silent, experimental, non-narrative short film that tells the story of a man walking through a quiet alleyway. As he approaches his home, a faulty streetlamp goes out, triggering his phobia of darkness, also known as Nyctophobia. He soon finds his consciousness lost in a made-up world as he desperately tries to escape into the light and away from the darkness.
The idea behind this graduation film was to develop a stop-motion short on a minimal budget and to experiment with multiple materials. The main characters were made from Papier-mâché, and all the sets were created using various materials ranging from cardboard to cement.
