Folktales of India
The Bird with Two Heads
Short Film / Digital 2D / 2020
Folktales of India: The Bird with Two Heads is an abridged tale about a two-headed bird lost in greed and vengeance. This story originates from the lush green lands of Karnataka, and the art style is inspired by and developed from the ancient Chittara tribal art form. It is derived from the famous Indian literary series "The Panchatantra", and features in a children's animated series called "Folktales of India" by Trip Creative Services, which showcases the rich variety of folklores from the Indian subcontinent.
The animation was predominantly created using Adobe After Effects, with much of the visual language developed in Adobe Photoshop. The art style is a modern and vivid reimagining of the ancient Chittara tribal art form, which is recognised for its intricate paintings made up of long lines, cross-hatchings, and symmetrical structures.
